Well I cannot believe my baby is now 2! Maddy is a fun loving, helpful, determined wee girl, who showed that she understood that we were going to have a "par-tee" for her.
We had a lot of fun getting inspiration for her birthday cake this year. The theme was easy .. teddy bear's picnic. One of the teddy's had to be yellow, to match her companion, Ted, in real life.
Aunty Katie and I spent the night before icing and decorating the cake. Making miniature cupcakes, sandwiches, layer cake and watermelon .. were all fun. We loved how our ideas came to life.
The base cake was a great white chocolate flavour - a heavy and sturdy number.
It took us four hours to completely decorate the cake from start to finish.
It was such a pleasure to see Madison's face light up the morning of her birthday party, and even more so when she saw the teddy scene on HER cake.
Even now, almost a week after the party, Maddy likes to talk about her 'cupcake'.
I kept the bears for her daycare birthday cake and presented (much to Maddy's delight) a very 'fancy' cake for daycare. It was great to have the bears, make an easy cake, iced with buttercream, and then plonk the 2 on top. Voila .. looks like I spent hours ... teehee.
You can click on the photos below to get a more detailed view. Maddy got some lovely new toys including a wooden oven, wooden food and tea set, a microwave (that works and beeps when its finished!), a cake whizz (using below .. with tongue hanging out), and a chef's outfit ..... mmmm a real theme came through for this birthday :)
A big thank you to Aunty Katie, Uncle Karl and Sam for having Maddy's party in your home. And another big thank you to all our family and friends for their birthday wishes, gifts and love ... mwah xoxoxo
